New electronic national identity card for Moldova
On April 14, Moldova’s Public Services Agency (ASP) officially launched a new electronic national identity card (NID).
Featuring enhanced physical and cryptographic security, the new NID card also includes an electronic signature that will greatly simplify the lives of Moldovan citizens.
“The national identity card opens up new possibilities for interaction between the state and its citizens. In a digitized world, it’s no longer just a plastic document confirming identity – it’s the key to accessing digital services, making life easier for Moldovans, including those in the diaspora,” said Mircea Eșanu, Director of the Public Services Agency.
The first national ID card was issued to the President of the Republic of Moldova, Mrs Maia Sandu, who declared that one million of the new cards would be distributed free of charge to Moldovan citizens.
As ASP’s main partner for this project, SELP took part in the event and feels very proud to contribute to this structuring project.
The SELP team would like to thank:
- Maia Sandu, President of the Republic of Moldova
- Dumitru Alaiba, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Economic Development and Digitalization,
- Mircea Eșanu, Director of ASP (Agenția Servicii Publice)
Thanks also to our partners for their effective collaboration and contribution to this success.
